A Christmas romance between Preston & Gem produced 7 gorgeous GSP puppies whelped 03/03/2023!
They are turning out beautifully and as anticipated, are proving themselves to be outgoing, inquisitive and beautifully put together. These pups were bred to be versatile and have the ability to be competition partners in the ring & field (and beyond) as well as being temperamentally sound as dogs you can actually live with. They have been exposed to all super puppy exercises starting at 3 days, have had the best of attention and care, tails & dewclaws done and we look forward to getting them on live quail soon.... I LOVE watching young pups turn onto live gamebirds! We are accepting applications for the best homes where these pups will be able to reach their potential as well as make great companions for people and their families. I LOVE this versatile, hard hunting, stylish and sweet boy! Preston captured my heart from the moment we met.
Preston is not only beautiful to look at, he's easy to live with, has a great temperament and is big fun in the field. He finished his show championship and Junior Hunter titles before we celebrated his 1st birthday with 3 Best of Breeds, a G4 and several BOW/BOS wins. He is a great field dog too, with nice big run, great application and staunch, steady point. More than that, he is just a joy to have around, so sweet and so biddable. We will show from time to time, but I really want to focus on his field, obedience and tracking career right now. 
January 2015: 1st time back in the ring as a finished Champion & Preston goes BOB winning a 5 point Grand Champion major!!
Preston earned his GSPCA RD (Retrieving Dog) title August 2015 at the GSP Club of Wisconsin Water Test.

November 7, 2015: Preston's first AKC obedience title! A CD from Novice B and the second leg was a first place with a 191.5 on the dirt in a horse arena. He also grabbed more breed points in the conformation ring both days. Update: Preston was invited to the AKC Obedience Invitational in Orlando, FL December 2016!!

Group 3 at Wheaton KC, June 2015. I finished his Grand Championship a week earlier at Woodstock KC.

Wishes do come true and Flare left the beautiful sunshine of San Diego for the frozen tundra of Wisconsin. (where I layered dog coats on her to help keep her warm until she acclimated).
What a very special opportunity to own a gorgeous GSP with such great genetics behind her... Gretchenhof, Columbia River, Shortales and so on. This was a frozen semen breeding as Jack was born in 1974, so all the puppies have classic rock song names from that decade. Flare also has great aptitude in the field and I'm waiting for her to grow up so we can start having fun in the ring and field for real, but for now, I'm certainly enjoying puppy antics as that phase goes by all too quickly. 
Little Flare came away with 3rd place in a large 6-9 puppy class at her first show!

German Shorthaired Club of America Novice Retrieving Dog Title - July 2022
Yay Ricky Bobby!
On a hot summer day in Wisconsin, Ricky Bobby earned the GSPCA Novice Retrieving Dog title by doing his usual enthusiastic water entry, retrieving his duck to me in the circle, turned around, left the circle, peed on a bush all while still holding his duck and returned to me in the circle to deliver the duck to my hand.
Typical Ricky Bobby, gotta give a little extra.... LOL

Ricky Bobby is on fire!!
He not only completed his RATO title, the next day he went out and qualified in Senior (4 rats, climbs and tunnels in allowed time of 3 mins 30 seconds) with a High in Class award for fastest time of 1 minute and 36 seconds!
The High In Class Open times were: 42 seconds and 38 secs to find 2 rats, do the climb & tunnel components .
For a dog with such strong hunting focus, he knows when to turn it on and will sit with me in the blind at a Barn Hunt Trial with his head on my leg , relaxed, waiting for his turn.
He's a beautiful, intelligent, sweet amazing boy.
Just like daddy Preston!
Update: Ricky Bobby easily finished the Senior title and qualified his first time in Master! Just have to get him back to barn hunt over the winter when indoor games are preferred.

Ricky Bobby 02April2021 - End of long day at our first AKC dog show in over a year. He won a big Best of Breed win giving him a 5 point Grand Champion major! It was so great to see friends and be at a dog show again.
Ricky Bobby is a Preston son, out of a Leaside's bitch "Adley". As you can see he's a handsome little dude, turns out he's got brains too! Having all sorts of fun with him and I'm thinking he has a pretty bright future.
Points just like daddy Preston!
Nothing more exciting than watching a 4 month old pup turn onto birds and fulfill his destiny.

Well, it's now 2019 and Valen has officially hit "veteran" status. Unfortunately I was never able to get her pregnant and the unfortunate part of that is she would have passed her lovely temperament and PRT attributes to her puppies. The breed needs help and the numbers are dwindling. Valen will be shown from time to time when there is an opportunity for a veteran's class. Meantime, she's just going to continue to enjoy life here at home, on the farm.
October 13, 2021. Heartbroken over the loss of Valen to a liver tumor just shy of 10 years old. I'll miss her shining dark eyes always full of mischief, cute face, wagging tail and terrier 'tude. She was always such a happy girl. Right up to the end she would still follow me down to the barn and still carried her toys around the house. The price we pay for loving them is pain in the end. I'll have another Parson someday, hopefully one that lives up to Valen's legacy. Rest easy my darling girl - thanks for being such a good doggie. |
